Squash Receives Olympic Boost
Squash received a major boost with the confirmation that the sport has been approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as one of five Recognised Federations that should be "studied further" with a view to inclusion in the Olympic Games programme for 2012.
The IOC is assessing the merits of all the sports and disciplines that were on the programme of the Athens Games, plus the five selected Recognised Sports: Golf, Rugby, Roller Sports, Karate and Squash. The final decision on the Olympic Programme for 2012 will be taken in July 2005.

The results of EUROPEAN MEN’S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Russian command in third time has acted on EUROPEAN MEN’S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP.
In the final question about the place in final listing Alexey Severinov has shortly and clearly answered: " the last ".
Alexey Severinov, Pavel Sergeev, Sergey Kostrykin and Roman Fetisov have lost to Germans (7 place in the final report),
to Belgians (13 place), to Hungarians (21 place). Alexey Severinov has won matches against the Polish opponent
(a command on 19 place) and at a member of command Ilse of Men (22 place).
However, the strong and equal command of Hungarians which guys already met with Russian team the last year,
has noted progress in game of our guys.
We shall hope, that in the autumn in Estonia on EUROPEAN SMALL NATIONS TOURNAMENT
Russian command will show much the best result.
Cup of mass-media on April, 25
The cup of mass-media has been devoted to the World squash day
and passed within the framework of the anniversary program of ITAR-TASS agency,
marking in this year the century.
24 representatives of mass-media and PR-agencies have taken part in tournament.
Many of them have taken in hands rackets for the first time in a life.
Specially for beginners Alexey Severinov and Paul Sergeev have lead masters-classes.
Winners have been awarded with memorable prizes from IТАR-TASS,
subscriptions on game from club " Hypersquash "
and equipment from Prince - the sponsor of the World Squash Day.

Russian Squash Federation and Hypersquash Sporting Club would like to invite You to “THE 5 TH SAINT-PETERSBURG SQUASH OPEN 2003”. This squash tournament will take place 3d – 5th October, and will include men and women. There will be players from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Italy participating. The main draw will include 32 (men) and 16 (women) players. All participants will be guaranteed at least two matches. We are looking forward to seeing You in October in Saint-Petersburg!
